How to make a birthday cake for your cat!

So it's that special time in our little fuzz-baby's life when they grow to be another year older!
True, they couldn't care less but when has that ever stopped you?

Beyond buying Tesco's finest "Good girl" cat nip filled mice and the "sharing" bag of dreamies and wrapping them up colourfully. There's something else you can do that not only fills the house with the delicious aroma of John West but also makes you the superior cat lady amongst your equally feline centric friends.

A two tiered 100% cat friendly birthday cake!

That's right, a birthday cake for your whole Clowd* to enjoy! (Clowd*: a pride of cats)

The cake is actually straight forward and rather fun to make! In fact it's simpler than a real cake. What you'll need is,

Ingredients
- 1 can of Tuna
- 1 can of red salmon
- Whipped cream in a can
- Your birthday cat's favourite treats for decor

You might also need
- A colourful plate
- A meter of satin ribbon
- A chopping board
- A spoon and a butter knife
- Birthday Candles

Step 1

-Out of both your cans of fish open the biggest can first. This will be your bottom tier.
Drain all the brine from the fish and attempt to put the fish flat on a pretty plate.
The aim is the to keep it's shape. A flat circle.
- To loosen the fish in the can take a knife and gentle nudge the fish patty away from the metal edges. Now loose the fish patty should flop onto the plate intact.

Step 2

-Very carefully place the second tier of fish on top of the bottom tier. You may want to do this very slowly as to not add too much pressure to the bottom.

Step 3

- Generously frost the fish cake with (try to get a sugar free one) whip cream.
- To spread the frosting evenly use a knife to spread any excess amounts of cream to thinner areas.

Step 4

- Take your cat's favourite treats and decorate the edges to mimic frosting peaks.
- We used Felix's beef and chicken crispies for their colour and shape! Moons and stars are cute but fish shapes and bones are equally appropriate.

Step 5

- Too add a colour touch to your cake, add a satin ribbon to the border.
- Place the candles into the tuna with a rotating motion and slowly. The cake is very delicate so choose where your candles go wisely.
- Clean any frosting or fish off your decorative plate and place in the fridge for 20 minutes allowed the frosting to set!

Step 6

- Light the candles and Enjoy!

Thank you for reading our guide to cat cakes!
We will say that this cake is far too big for one cat, so please don't leave them alone with it as they WILL attempt to eat it all, then throw up and it will be like you have a real 5 year old.
Cut them a slice and save the rest for any feline friends coming to visit.

You'll also want to keep the cake away from them when you blow out the candles as the smoke will upset their very sensitive nose.

Side note

Here's a cake we made last year! Using Dreamies and Good Girl white chocolate buttons for decor and Tesco's feline salmon yogurt for frosting! (a very stinky cat cake)
